About Kathy Brosnan

"The more affection I feel for the location,
the more successful the image.
"

I have traveled extensively and love to create paintings from what I have seen and experienced. The more affection I feel for the location, the more successful the image.

The process of painting is extremely exhilarating; it is a great impetus to travel and a great way to keep the experience fresh. I am constantly discovering new delights in painting. I want to guide the viewer into the world of my observations and experiences.

Travel and art allow me to combine two passions. I start with everyday images discovered on my journeys and transform them into easily accessible personal expressions.

For me the creative process begins with capturing thousands of images on film. I narrow them down to one or two. I then weigh the elements, selecting a strong image from which to work. I select the medium most appropriate to the subject matter and the mood I want to evoke.
